Where to find/store things
SharePoint and OneDrive
Use the JGI SharePoint for most documents.
Use your University OneDrive for private documents and as a personal backup.
Most of the time, you can open Office documents directly from SharePoint if you have internet access.
For offline access, you can add SharePoint shortcuts to your OneDrive meaning those folders get synced to your device. You can also sync entire SharePoint libraries to your device, but this is often too much for the OneDrive sync client to handle!
Useful SharePoint locations
Projects
For data science projects that are not large or long-term enough to have their own dedicated folder or SharePoint team.
Each project has its own folder, starting with the project number.
Each folder should contain:
- a layperson description of the project tht can be used on the website and in case studies,
- information on the funding for the project,
- notes of important meetings, copies of presentations or changes to the project,
- any code, data or resources that are not saved elsewhere.
Projects and project numbers are tracked in the Research Development spreadsheet.
