A scoping workshop run by the University of Bristol in August 2024 for the UK Government identified the need for an interdisciplinary understanding of emerging biothreats which integrated tools, practices, and knowledges across disciplines.

The Strategic Critical Rapid Integrated Biothreat Evaluation (SCRIBE) project is exploring how to unify health, social, and environmental data with security studies and sectoral experience from NGOs, defence, and security organisations. SCRIBE is a collaborative approach transcending traditional knowledge community boundaries to deliver practical outputs, better understand biothreat dynamics, and evaluate the feasibility of future predictive modelling.
